Professor Desmond Clark
PROFESSOR DESMOND CLARK, who has died aged 85, was the leading authority on the prehistory of the African continent; it was his fieldwork, undertaken before, during and after the Second World War, that illuminated the early history of a region previously virtually unexplored.
