Invitation to participate in Global Looting Survey The international trade in illicit antiquities (antiquities either illegally excavated and/or exported) contributes to the destruction of the world's archaeological heritage. As a member of an archaeological organization, society or association, university or research institution, you are being asked to participate in a research study that focuses on looting and archaeological site destruction from the perspective of archaeologists. This research is an opportunity for you to discuss your personal experiences with and opinions about the looting of archaeological sites. Your responses to this online survey research will help us better understand the scope and frequency of looting and archaeological site destruction around the world. In order to complete the survey, please go to http://bosrsurvey.unl.edu/index.php?sid=29755&token=42190&lang=en. The survey takes about 10 minutes of your time.

Omata farmsteads investigation Watrch it on-line at the HPT site. "Archaeological investigation of two historic European farmstead sites (NZAA site numbers P19/292 and P19/270) is being undertaken this summer as the fieldwork component of PhD research by Janice Adamson at the University of Auckland. The sites are located in Omata, New Plymouth. The two sites chosen for excavation are part of a largely undocumented archaeological resource of European farmstead sites that were destroyed during conflict relating to the first Taranaki land war between March 1860 and March 1861. The potential for archaeology relating to these sites was first identified by Dr Nigel Prickett, whose own PhD research was on the military stockade at Omata.

3D MODELING IN ARCHAEOLOGY AND CULTURAL HERITAGE May 2008, in Ascona, Switzerland The School will face the problem of the modern technologies in the heritage field, giving participants the opportunity to obtain a detailed overview of the main methods and applications to archaeological and conservation research and practice. Furthermore, our School will give the chance to participants to enter in a very short time the kernel of the scientific discussion on 3D technologies - surveying methods, documentation, data management and data interpretation - in the archaeological research and practice.
